Funny, I was just looking at this. The [slow] kid in me took about 30 seconds to come up with an answer:

Mary-Lou! I’m enjoying the LBQ (Lull Between Quakes) here in Califerndoc. Hope you’re content, too.

I worked for a regional office of education when all of this started many many years ago . . . the intent? Dummy down education especially for those who excel either through God gifting them or through dedicated study. What could easily be worked out in their heads was left to waste time, engegy and $$$ and purposely cause confusion. I call it downright evil.

#22, Harry Anderson was a famous illustrator IIRC, he is in the Illustrator's Hall of Fame, and well know for the ubiquitous:

Reminds me of something I was thinking about and reviewing last night regarding liberty, and the instructions and date on the Liberty Bell:

And well, 1753 to 2023 is 270 years, which is a long time for something to be put into storage...

Which had then reminded me that "270" is not written in the normal letter order in Hebrew, because it forms a word that has negative connotations. Indeed, because 270 (resh, 200 + ayin, 70) spells "evil" [רע].

Thus, it is written in reverse order, which is also a word(s) ער, which is to say, WAkey WAkey!

ער, Er: also the name of Judah's firstborn, but he was evil [רע] so he had to go.

Back to the crazy math problem, what to do with nine hundred and thirty-four, all names of numbers in written form:

The 9, 30, and 4 come under the umbrella of 100, so...

Of course, while "woke"math word problems serve to confuse , they are typically just poorly (incompetently) worded and/or filled with corrupt topics "of conversation".

This particular one, however, was simply-worded but plainly unsolvable by normal means.

That's what attracted my attention to it, and Voila! Could be more than one option, but that'll work.

I suspect that in this case, the creator of that problem was having a little mischievous fun.

Liberty, in thinking...

(word plays: Philad^A is a "hay" field as written in the Hebrew translation, with the hay from above)
